Canine pruritus: causes and therapies
Understanding what causes an animal to itch is the first step in successful treatment of the pruritic dog, as this article describes.

After graduating from the Université de Montréal in 1996, Dr. Sauvé completed a Master’s degree in science before undertaking a residency program in veterinary dermatology at the same university. He obtained the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) certification in 2004 and then worked as a clinical instructor at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire (CHUV) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal. He is now associate professor and vice-dean of clinical affairs at the same institution. He is currently the immediate past president of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (CAVD).
